Online Workshop: Illustration and Wellbeing

A supportive workshop that uses illustration as a tool for wellbeing.

When, Where

  • Zoom

Join award-winning medical artist and facilitator Merlin Evans for a calming, creative workshop that places your wellbeing centre stage.

Mental ill health was a growing public health crisis even before the pandemic came along, putting us all under extraordinary, unprecedented levels of stress. Today, it’s more important than ever to take our mental health seriously and make time to take care of ourselves.

This gentle, supportive afternoon workshop will use illustration as a tool for wellbeing. Merlin will guide you through a series of hands-on, creative exercises that help you connect to your emotions without words. You’ll explore the art of slow looking and discover how image-making can support self-care.

Merlin was commissioned to run similar workshops for NHS staff throughout the pandemic, and is now working with the United Nations Development Programme, Imperial University and the Centre for Performance Science to expand the programme globally.

What you’ll do

  • Create an illustrated self-care manifesto that allows you to bring art and health together in your daily life.
  • Learn the art of slow looking – a new way of exploring art in galleries and online.
  • Take part in a guided meditation to connect to your authentic artistic voice.
  • Learn about the global practice of arts-health and the charities and practitioners leading the field.
