Adult Masterclass: 3D Maquettes for 2D Children’s Illustration with Jeff Crosby

The whats, hows and whys of using maquettes for illustration.

When, Where

Discover how using a 3D maquette can transform your 2D illustration with author and illustrator Jeff Crosby.

A maquette is a small preliminary model used as reference for drawing, painting or sculpting. For illustrators, it can not only be a great guide for rendering accurate light and form, but can also be a valuable tool for creating consistent characters in sequential imaging.

In this masterclass, you’ll explore the various types and functions of maquettes. You’ll use polymer clay, wire and foil to construct your own maquettes, then find out how to use them as references for drawing exercises.

Materials will be provided but students are also welcome to bring their favourites.
