It’s always nice to send and receive Christmas cards but it’s got to be extra nice in this year of so much isolation and social distancing.
So we were extra delighted to collaborate with our friends at All Change Arts on more Postal Poetry, this time in the form of Christmas cards to be distributed via local community centres, food banks and care homes to 2,000 isolated older people and families in Islington.
Led by poet Francesca Beard, All Change's Well-Versed group of older people wrote wintry poems inspired by the rather different Christmas we’re having this year.
“Ring out the Old Year! Ring in the New!
(Though what we’ll get, we haven’t a clue)”
By Daphne and Ann
We then commissioned three illustrators, Montana Forbes, Eve Lloyd Knight and Murugiah, to respond to their poems. each creating three designs to be risograph printed on the front of the cards, complementing the words within.
Take a look at the illustrations below.
Montana Forbes is also running an online masterclass on Fashion Illustration on Saturday 20 February with a few tickets left.
Eve Lloyd Knight
Eve Lloyd Knight also illustrated a poem celebrating the 100th birthday of a much-loved care home resident.
