Connecting Through Christmas Cards: Illustrated Poetry to Combat Isolation

It’s always nice to send and receive Christmas cards but it’s got to be extra nice in this year of so much isolation and social distancing.

So we were extra delighted to collaborate with our friends at All Change Arts on more Postal Poetry, this time in the form of Christmas cards to be distributed via local community centres, food banks and care homes to 2,000 isolated older people and families in Islington.

Led by poet Francesca Beard, All Change's Well-Versed group of older people wrote wintry poems inspired by the rather different Christmas we’re having this year.

“Ring out the Old Year! Ring in the New!
(Though what we’ll get, we haven’t a clue)”

We then commissioned three illustrators, Montana ForbesEve Lloyd Knight and Murugiah, to respond to their poems. each creating three designs to be risograph printed on the front of the cards, complementing the words within.
