Join author and illustrator Claire Alexander for a day delving in to the joyful world of picture books and creating your own character with contemporary publishing appeal.
You’ll look at successful characters in picture books today and consider what exactly makes them interesting to everyone they need to appeal to: children, parents, carers, teachers and publishers.
You’ll learn how to write a character study and use watercolours and collage to create a colour vignette with texture and charm.
This masterclass is also a fantastic opportunity to gain insight into a successful picture book-maker’s own practice, finding out more about Claire’s many published projects and getting crucial insights into how to present your ideas to publishers.
