The Gift Aid scheme allows charities like House of Illustration to reclaim 25% of the total price paid by visitors – but only if the visitor has chosen to donate an additional 10% of the standard price.
This small donation makes a huge difference to a charity like ours. We receive no public funding so have to raise everything we need to run our exhibitions, education programme, outreach work, public events, residencies and more.
In this example, you can see how a donation of 80p effectively becomes a donation of £3:
|Amount you pay||Amount we can reclaim from the government||Amount we receive altogether|
|Adult ticket with gift aid||£8.80||£2.20||£11|
|Adult ticket without gift aid||£8||£0||£8|
This 10% donation is massively appreciated but entirely voluntary, so if you prefer to pay the standard price, please specify this at the ticket desk or select this online.
By selecting Gift Aid tickets you are confirming you are paying an amount of Income Tax and/or Capital Gains Tax for the current tax year (6 April to 5 April) that is at least equal to the amount of tax that all charities and Community Amateur Sports Clubs that you donate to will reclaim on your gifts for the current tax year. Council tax and VAT do not qualify.
